LazyExams Privacy Notice

Who we are

LazyExams helps students practise UK GCSE / A-Level exams with AI-assisted marking and study tools (including DrawReasonAI and LazyFarm rewards). This notice explains what we collect, why, and how we use and protect it.

This notice applies to LazyExams websites, apps, and related services (including payment, memberships, newsletters, events, and support areas).

Types of data we collect

Usage data & Cookies (Analytics)

We use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to collect standard internet log information and aggregated visitor behaviour (pages viewed, time on page, device info). This helps us understand which features are used and to improve performance. Analytics reports are processed in a way that does not directly identify you.

Account & Profile Data

When you create an account or use our services we collect information you provide (e.g., display name, email), security credentials, and feature flags (e.g., membership level, access to AI tools, coin balances). We also keep audit logs for security and fraud prevention.

Mailing Lists (Newsletters & Product Updates)

If you subscribe to our newsletters, we store your subscription preferences with a trusted email provider. We record standard engagement stats (opens, clicks) to improve content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email.

Payments & Memberships

When you purchase a membership, payment details are handled by certified third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe). We receive limited billing metadata needed to activate or manage your membership. We do not store card numbers or any bank information.

Support & Operational Data

When you interact with in-app support or forms, we process the information you submit to resolve your request and improve our services.

How we use your data

• To provide and secure the platform (login, fraud prevention, feature access, backups).
• To personalise learning (marking, feedback, progress, LazyFarm rewards).
• To improve performance and usability (analytics, debugging, A/B tests).
• To send essential service messages (e.g., membership status, critical updates).
• With your consent, to send newsletters or product updates (unsubscribe any time).

Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with trusted processors necessary to run LazyExams (hosting, analytics, payments, email delivery, error monitoring), under contracts that restrict their use to our instructions.

Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. We apply minimisation and access controls.

Your rights

You can access, correct, download, or delete your personal data, and you may object to or restrict certain processing, subject to applicable law. You can manage many preferences in your account and email unsubscribe links. You may also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data (encryption in transit, least-privilege access, server-side verification of memberships and coins, audit logging, and abuse detection).

Updates to this notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in-product. Continued use of LazyExams after changes means you acknowledge the updated notice.
